Historic Washington State Park announces the annual summer concert series Music in the Park with the theme “Music of Entertainment”. Free concerts will be held in June, July, and August on the 1874 Courthouse lawn.On Saturday, June 17 the first performance will be by the Buffalo Bill Cowboy Band from the Dallas-Fort Worth area of Texas. They seek to preserve the history of one of America’s famous traveling shows in the 19th century. The Wild West music library is made up of musical compositions and arrangements from The Golden Age of American Bands (1880-1920) and includes pieces written specifically for Buffalo Bill's Wild West. The original Wild West Show visited the area at the turn of the 20th century in Texarkana. Residents of Washington in the 19th century enjoyed performing and listening to a variety of musical types from piano solos and marching bands. Join the community as they did in the past to enjoy evenings of great musical entertainment at Historic Washington State Park. Guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or a blanket to sit on. Concerts begin at 7:30 p.m., and the gift shop will be open for refreshments until 8:30 p.m.
