Area Festivals

Hempstead County has several different festivals that are celebrated throughout the year. At the beginning of the year, the annual Jonquil Festival in Washington welcomes Spring to the county. Hope celebrates its founding with an annual Train Day festival downtown. In August, the annual Hope Watermelon Festival celebrates the history of the county growing one of the world’s largest watermelons.
